Vitamin C or ascorbic acid, as it is called when synthesized by plants, is a water-soluble vitamin that humans cannot produce. Since ascorbic acid in doses as large as 1000mg can affect sensitive stomachs, another form of vitamin C is used in Life Vitamin C + berries called calcium ascorbate. One of the benefits of calcium ascorbate over ascorbic acid is that calcium ascorbate is acid neutral and is often better tolerated by sensitive stomachs.
